Message Encryption by Jim Gau
This presentation introduces Digital Certificates and uses Digital Certificate to sign (authenticate and encrypt) email as an example to illustrate the PKI concept.
Digital Certificates provide a means of proving your identity in electronic transactions; much like a driver license or a passport does in face-to-face interactions. With a Digital Certificate, you can assure friends, business associates, and online services that the electronic information they receive from you are authentic. Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) provides an integrated public key infrastructure that enables you to secure and exchange information with strong security and easy administration across the Internet, extranets, intranets, and applications.
